Childcare Support Workers
No formal qualification yet? Start in a hands-on support role and build real experience in quality settings, including while you work towards your SVQ. Learning on the job is part of working in childcare, and we are happy to provide work and placements along the way.

What to expect when you apply
Three steps from first enquiry to your first placement.

A friendly chat
After your enquiry we invite you to an interview to explore your passion and experience. You will also complete a questionnaire and upload the documents we need.Once you have applied we will invite you to an interview, online or by phone, to get to know you, your experience and what draws you to working with children. It is as much a chance for you to ask questions as it is for us: you can find out about the variety of settings you could work in and how placements fit around you. You will complete a short questionnaire and upload the documents we need, such as proof of identity, any qualifications you hold and references, so we are ready to move quickly.

Your PVG check and registration
We submit your PVG application to Disclosure Scotland. You cannot start work until it has been returned and is clear, so the earlier you apply the sooner you can start.We submit your PVG application to Disclosure Scotland on your behalf and guide you through every part of it, so there are no confusing forms to face on your own. Processing can take up to two weeks, sometimes longer in busy periods. You cannot begin working with Elite until your PVG check has been returned and is clear: it must be in place before your first shift. That keeps the children in our care safe, and it protects you too. All our staff are also required to register with the SSSC within three months of starting employment with us, and we guide you through that as well. We keep you updated at every step while you wait.

Once your PVG clearance arrives you are officially part of Elite Childcare, ready to make a difference in young lives across Scotland.When your clearance comes through you are officially part of the Elite Childcare team and we begin matching you with placements. Because we work with nurseries and settings across Scotland, you will gain experience in different rooms and age groups, learn from a range of managers and build genuine variety into your week. You will always have a real person to call for support, and you can tell us the kinds of settings and hours that suit you best.

PVG checks, handled properly
Every member of our team is PVG checked before their first shift and SSSC registered within 3 months of starting with us, and we process PVG applications for individuals or organisations.
